Is he just pulling the wool over our eyes?

|

Luis SuarezAs you may have heard, we are tracking Luis Suarez and, reportedly, placed an opening £30 million bid for the Uruguayan last week which was turned down by Liverpool.

The Merseyside club have said they will not consider anything less than £40 million for the striker and reports now claim Arsenal are ready to up their bid to £35 million.

When asked about a potential move for the 26-year-old, Arsene Wenger replied:

‘Suarez? As you all know, the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I am not going to answer that question.’

Now I don’t know about you guys but can you really see Wenger fork out £40 million for one single player? I honestly can’t and I think this is all a ploy to build up our hopes of actually seeing Suarez in an Arsenal shirt this season for the Frenchman to come out at the end of the the transfer window and say ‘I gave it a go’.

Wenger may be pulling the wool over some people’s eyes, but not mine.

The fact is this deal will not come to fruition because if Wenger really wanted him then he would have tabled the required amount to Liverpool for Suarez already, not up his bid and still fall short of the Uruguayan’s value.

It’s to sell the overpriced tickets, the American needs to juice more £millions out of Arsenal for his US franchise. When wenger didn’t want to sell Nasri Stan flew in especially to force the sale.

    • fran says:

U make a very good point about stan flyin in to push through nasri sale and it gives food for thought. Personally I cant see luis the vampire lining up for arsenal next season there are to many reason y it wont happen. I was optimistic but now I dont know what is going to happen. I do feel we should have signed higuin hes a really class act as least as good as luis the racist and less volatile. The only thing which makes me think stan might want wenger to spend is the sucess and then further revenue that could bring. Im irish so there is no native support here but arsenal man u and pool are huge here and always were. Now since chelsea became chelski and man city became money bags theres an ecplosion of stoopid blue footie jerseys floatin around here. So the logic is spend win reap a pile of extra financial reward. Im not a tycoon or even an average business man but it seems very simple to me. Im looking at all these blue shirts that support the idea daily. Anyway as ive said I dunno whats gonna happen. But I will always love LOVE LOVE arsenal football club even I dislike the knobs running it. Heres to us maybe buting some world class players this year and to u all my brothers and sisters all u glorious gooners.

Some of your clearly have no idea how negotiation works.

    • fran says:

I as most on here have absolutely no odea how negotiations for world beating football players are conducted hence we are fans on a fans forum not a football contract negotiators forum. I think most on here would agree with what ive just said, its just that our clubs board dont seem to know about it either or at least they dont seem to know as much as other clubs who identify a player they want negotiate a fee and personal terms and conclude the deal. Instead our lot seem to ditter ditter ditter then buy suspect blokes with freakishly large foreheads who run around the pitch like headless chickens.

      Same goes for this management!!!!!!

For those who continually slag AW off then please be aware if the truth. He brought the club untold success in his early years including 2 doubles. However changes in the modern game brought more money to some clubs and we was not able to compete so a business model was designed so we could compete with the best clubs in the world. This meant building a new stadium and repaying the debt ASAP. The stadium now affords us to compete financially. The model was for AFC to buy younger players that could bring us a level of play that we might get close to the top. Unfortunately some of these wanted success early and moved on. Only 1 manager in the world could coach them to the level they achieved and that is AW. The model suggested limited funds for transfers for 6/8 years and I openly confessed this to many people in the game. This period is now over so we can look forward to competing over the next few years at the very best level. Don’t believe the press saying AW does not want to spend. Like all managers he can only spend what is available. If sir Alex fur guano tried to spend what Man U did not have he would not have been able to. Any one who thinks different is an idiot. Some years ago he was criticised for having not English players. The truth behind that was that all the best young players were already at top clubs and they would not sell. Because of our business model the club found the next best youngsters. Theo. whilsher. Ox plus others. By the way, I also stated when whilsher was only 15 that he would be as good as cesc. I have often got frustrated myself with the lack of silverware but trust arsene. He is still the best on the world.

Although you have put your point, Tommo, well and respectfully, I genuinely disagree with you. Many of the clubs failings were not about money matters. Wenger bought more poor players than almost any other manager. Chamakh, Santos, Denilson, Bendtner, Squillaci, Djourou, Cygan etc etc. He also paid them insane money Squillaci £60,000 a week, Denilson £50,000 a week, Arshavin £80,000 a week, etc etc. Then all the panic buys after selling Cesc and the Gollum. Things change though and although Wenger is still a great coach, he is not a great manager of the club. If I was Kroenke I would love him for making me money. As a fan I find him untruthful and more like Mr Bean than a real football manager.

Utter rubbish you just came out with there. If you really are an arsenal fan you would remember AW saying he was able to spend last year and the year before that and an apparent war chest available for the last 4 seasons which was never ever opened. So please don’t condone the behaviour of AW the penny pinching past his prime old man.
AFC needs fresh ambitious blood to spend what we have available and not to sell our best players year in year out and buy less than mediocre replacements just as AW has done.
If he was serious about winning he would never have allowed RVP to leave last season if he had this coming season of big quality spending in mind. RVP left because he saw AW was not a winner anymore and had no ambition to win and I don’t blame him for leaving. It’s logical any club would be able to persuade a player to remain one more season to prove what they would do the next in terms of transfers.

So yes you have been duped in to wingers lies and games. His bids are a joke as he deliberately under bids on players value and he knows it will be rejected. Ask yourself if he was serious why hasn’t he gone back in for Bender with a higher bid???? Because the bid was just to keep arsenal fans of his and the clubs back. Before you know it the window will be closed wenger will have his new contract and the board and wenger will b laughing at how they screwed us over once again ….

  • jaymes Ajayi says:

Exactly @Jim, I agree ..negotiations for “World Class” players take longer than expected and arsenal aren’t known for rapid negotiations when it comes to signing players, Patience y’all.. We will sign.!

  • Ikechukwu nwabichie says:

Wenger is a great coach he will sign expetional players

  • craigyboy says:

I agree wenger wont buy anyone he is no good for this club im a life long arsenal fan and about sick ov all this I aint even renewed my season ticket over priced to go watch a mediocore football team

  • Johnson says:

Stupid manager! Just let the board worry about money and demand for the money and support like ferguson cos your job to is to win trophies.

  • hokuspokus says:

Well if you look at our scout (Giles Grimandi) that says it all for all the jokes we buy.The back 4 when he was there omg what was AW thinking off then, this is why we get low french division players that are unknown is this what AW tells him to look for.AW is destroying the team but keeping himself happy (£7.5 mill) a year contract, and the board so just what do they do all day have tea parties and see who can make the best muffins.AW,pack up your troubles in your old kit bag. 🙂

At last some Arsenal fans and not Wenger lovers.
When I was at school I was the fastest runner in my school. I’m forty five now! Is it still relevant? This principle applies for what could be the ninth season without a trophy. How long will Arsenal fans keep spouting about the early years? Those days ended in 2005. Since then it has been a catalogue of bad buys, over paid players, players leaving to win things & the promise of funds that always seems to be £70m.
When Arsenal were building The Emirates, AW said,Arsenal needed the bigger stadium to compete financially with other teams, everyone had to agree. When Arsenal were in the stadium AW said, Arsenal will be a selling club for the next twenty years. This is when I started to notice what was happening at the club I’ve supported all my life. As pointed out previously, I also believe Arsenal purposely under bid for players. AW use to find diamonds in the rough, time and time again. I use to wonder how the player would fit in. Now I wonder will he be good enough. Then you see players like Gercrapio and Sancan’tdefendtos. AW time as manager ended a while ago.
Going on past seasons I don’t expect any top bracket signings, look on the Arsenal website, AW says, sometimes stability is the answer. That’s the first step, then it’ll be, finding the quality to improve a team that has squeaked into 4th place for however many seasons, is hard to do! Are my eyes lying to me? As a fan, I find this is an insult to my intelligence.
I’ll end with this if I was Eduardo or Vela and I saw Bendtfoot picked ahead of me, I’d leave too.

I totally agree with Tommo but some of u r just say rubbish. I don’t see u as true arsenal fans. No coach apart from, maybe, Sir Ferguson can achieve wat he did with young players. Tho most of them did nt stay when we needed them the most, he still kept Arsenal in the top 4 group. Last season most the players we had were fresh to the English league & we finished ahead of Tottenham to remain in the top 4. Most clubs go down the drain when this happens. I also acknowledge the mistake he made by selling RVP he has no rite to say that wat his manager has planned out for the future of the club is nt gonna work out. No player knows better than his coach. I’m glad we let him go cos he wuldnt give his all if he stayed & he won’t be part of the squad that’s gonna be winning all the prestigious trophies. AW is a great coach despite all his shortcomings & I av faith in him & the club & I am sure that this season IS gonna be the season for us….I can bet on that.
