Is he just pulling the wool over our eyes?

|

Luis SuarezAs you may have heard, we are tracking Luis Suarez and, reportedly, placed an opening £30 million bid for the Uruguayan last week which was turned down by Liverpool.

The Merseyside club have said they will not consider anything less than £40 million for the striker and reports now claim Arsenal are ready to up their bid to £35 million.

When asked about a potential move for the 26-year-old, Arsene Wenger replied:

‘Suarez? As you all know, the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I am not going to answer that question.’

Now I don’t know about you guys but can you really see Wenger fork out £40 million for one single player? I honestly can’t and I think this is all a ploy to build up our hopes of actually seeing Suarez in an Arsenal shirt this season for the Frenchman to come out at the end of the the transfer window and say ‘I gave it a go’.

Wenger may be pulling the wool over some people’s eyes, but not mine.

The fact is this deal will not come to fruition because if Wenger really wanted him then he would have tabled the required amount to Liverpool for Suarez already, not up his bid and still fall short of the Uruguayan’s value.

I’ve given up hope of trying to understand Wengers logic when it comes to him buying players.

    • bluff then bulk says:

The logic is to make money
      Without spending it.
Wenger is the puppet on the string…
So its not really his fault.

Just bullshit to boost season ticket sales!!

    Well done….
Glad some one else has wool resistant eyes.
The rich get richer (the owners and the board)
And the poor get poorer. (Arsenal fans)

  • MaxidusForMen says:

This is just a ploy for Real Madrid to make an official bid for Suarez so that Arsenal can then have a real chance of signing his real target, Hugain.

  • @Labo_Goon says:

If he was really serious, he wouldve match Liverpool asking fee. I’ve seen this played out last few weeks with Rooney, Higuain and a few others, Wenger should be honest with Arsenal fans, I don’t buy all that hands on the balls “we not scared to spend” on “top top top players” with “exceptional talent”, he and Gazidis led us on to believe 2 weeks back. Should we fail to buy a marquee player or 2 in this window, Arsene and Ivan are nothing but liars

!m sorry the mans just not up to it. Hes the biggest conman in football. He cant spot a player anymore. Hes scared stiff to spend the money coz he knows he has to deliver if he does. And the thought of having him for another three years makes my blood run cold. and if your think hes gonna spend 40 mill on suarez or anyone else you better go and have lay down.Ive given up my season ticket of 17 years im sick of being fed bs by wenger and rest of them..Ive had anough…

U are 100% right Carlo. I have supported Arsenal since they were 5th from the bottom in the mid 70s. But this is seriously taking the biscuit. When a manager and his Board regularly feed the fans lies because they think ordinary people are stupid – you must be if u pay the highest gate receipt in the world to see Gervinho and Bendtner and some new kids. this is the biggest con in football, and no one is doing a thing about it. Even some imbecile fans still say in “Arsene we trust”!

That’s what I am talklng abut!.

  • el tel says:

Couldnt agree more! These ‘bids’ for world class players like higuan, Rooney, suarez and bender are all conveniently short of their clubs asking price. Oh and shock horror wenger is gonna be offered a new contract for all the hard work hes been doing over the last 8 years. We will sign nobody but all the pro wenger brigade will say he tried to sign top quality but their clubs over price them. Bollocks!!!! We are a business and wengers job is to make money and stay top 4. I love arsenal but im not a mug I can see right thru it. I could go on all day but il keep it sweet

    • Joe71 says:

Let me sweeten it with an example. Why are some Arsenal fans saying the real Madrid owner is a shifty liar just because he says no one has bid for higuain and certainly not arsenal. Has it not occurred to people that he could be telling the truth? what financial sense is it when you refuse to increase a bid by the extra £2m in order to meet the sellers’ asking price, then go ahead to bid elsewhere £30m for another player – knowing full well that bid will not be accepted. Only immature children play these foolish games – if Arsenal has bid for anyone in the first place though!

Personal l dont give a damm who is wearing the shirt as its the badge on the front l support not the name on the back and as long as there is a club to follow follow l will. L supported them through the barren period upto to ’71 an the period with no titles upto ’89 so why should l change now? Guess being a true fan isnt the same as being a glory hunter only interested in watching a team thats winning trophies every year.l have mates that support our local team Aldershot a team who went out of business and formed in the lower leagues fought their way back into the league but now are agian in administration but my mates still support their team l have more admiration for them than some of my so called fellow Arsenal fans

    • bluff then bulk says:

Nothing wrong with fans showing there disappointment with the lack of buying quality instead of selling it.
If these fans didn’t love nor care about Arsena fc they wouldn’t be here making these statements.
As for calling them glory hunters its sounds like your the one looking for a medal.

    • Joe71 says:

Hey small Gooner, read my comments above. I too supported Arsenal in the lean years, but my point here is the Criminally minded con men that now runs our beloved club. I admire Aldershot fans for supporting their struggling club, but I do not admire thieves.

  • John says:

Surely It’s worth spending £40m on a world class striker to better the team, than the usual £40m spread over 8 or9 unknown crap players.
Come on Mr Wenger, put us back where we we belong.
The fans pay the high prices to watch, give them some success.

  • gary vince says:

Arsenal always manage to do it we seem to alert other clubs that a player is up for grabs then we lose the player because we don’t come up with the cash Wenger is only interested in top 4
