Journalist Pete O’Rourke has delivered his verdict on Arsenal target Victor Osimhen, claiming that the Napoli striker “would improve the team’s front line straight away”.

The Lowdown: The strike force needs investment

The Gunners have struggled to find a consistent goal scorer to lead the line this season, after failing to adequately replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his January move to Barcelona.

Boss Mikel Arteta has tinkered with his strike force throughout the season, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah fighting for the number nine shirt, however neither of them have managed to convince the Emirates faithful, with Lacazette only managing 4 goals in 29 Premier League appearances this season, while Nketiah also has 4 goals but in 20 Premier League outings.

This has led to speculation for the North Londoners to go into the summer in the market for a new centre forward, with their top target being Nigerian marksman Osimhen, a move that O’Rourke believes would be a smart investment.

The Latest: A huge potential signing

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke praised the 23-year-old, noting that his attributes would make him a success if he was to move to England.

He said: “It’d be a huge signing for Arsenal. There will be competition for his signature if he does leave Napoli, but he’s had a really good season in Serie A.

“It looks like he’s got all the attributes to be a success in England. He’s a big, strong, fast striker as well, so I think if Arsenal were able to get him, he’s definitely somebody who could improve them right now.”

The Verdict: A bit too pricey

While bringing in Osimhen would be a smart deal on paper, particularly considering his strong goal return this season, bagging 14 goals this season in Serie A this season, he could be out of Arsenal’s price range.

With Manchester United and Newcastle United both reportedly after the target man, the transfer fees being reported would smash Arsenal’s current record signing fee, and, at a touted £85m for which the Italian club is valuing their number nine at, that is over £30m his estimated market value according to Transfermarkt, so it is debatable whether Arteta’s side would be getting great value for money or not.

And in other news, Arsenal are also after another player who has had a superb 2021/22 season…
