4-2-3-1: Arsenal’s potential 2018/19 XI including 5 new signings

|

CB: Shkodran Mustafi

Arriving from Valencia in the summer of 2016, World Cup winner Shkodran Mustafi initially impressed in the Premier League after creating a stellar partnership with Laurent Koscielny. However, various injuries to the pair have disrupted that duo and Arsenal have suffered as a result.

Mustafi needs to improve his form, showing that he’s a capable Premier League defender on his own and doesn’t require the experience of a peer next to him, and this summer will be a crucial test for him to prove that is the case.

Given the age of Koscielny, the pending retirement of Per Mertesacker and the fact that Calum Chambers and Rob Holding are both baby-faced young talents, Mustafi is likely to remain at the heart of Arsenal’s back-line.
