Jackson MartinezSeveral reports are suggesting Arsenal are trying to land Alvaro Morata on a £1.7 million loan deal until the end of the season.

The Gunners have supposedly re-opened talks with Real over a loan move for the 21-year-old having had their previous approaches rejected and Arsene Wenger himself ruling out a swoop for Morata.

However, should a move for the Real Madrid youngster not be agreed then Arsenal are prepared to spend heavily this month to land a reliable striker instead.

And it is believed Porto’s Jackson Martinez is leads a long line of potential candidates.

With this being said, and if of course these reports are to be believed, then why not just splash the cash on a prolific forward rather than attempting to bring in a youngster on loan?

I hope Morata rejects any advances from Arsenal and opts to stay put so that Wenger will be forced to go out and acquire a prolific striker which is what we all want to see come in this January.

What is the point of going for Morata? He’s not exactly a world beater and someone we can rely on to bag the goals. Just because he plays for Real doesn’t mean he’s a special talent. Don’t get me wrong, Morata is a decent enough forward, but to lead the line and rely on him on a weekly basis? No thank you.

Wenger knows what the side needs and what the fans want to see happen this January.

Forget about trying to sign Morata and saving the bucks, just go all out for Martinez and be done with it. Martinez is a beast and loves to score goals – a proven striker. Better yet, the 27-year-old Colombian stated earlier in the week that he would love the opportunity to play for our club in the near future and, in his own words, ‘wouldn’t hesitate’ to join Arsenal. Offer Porto just over £30 million and he’ll more than likely be ours.

    Martinez is not worth £30m
    He’s not worth £20m
If I was to compare him, i would say he was more Emile Heskey than Didier Drogba.
Also, deceptively, he is not fast. not at all
And he is not a team player.
He could not cope with Arsenal’s build-up play and passing.
In truth, he’s a bit of a goal-hanging lump. He can finish – but soldado could finish last season and look at him now.

Lazy article and so short termism. Whats the point of spending so much money now on a players when we can get him for less in the summer . What do we say about players form other leagues needing a season to get up to speed , does that not suggest spending £30 million now makes no sense. We have a team on the verge of greatness ,piss off with your negativity, we have had enough . Just before you make any ill-thought assumptions I have been saying this for the past few years!!! Secondly have some respect for our manager!!

  • Arsenal's Boss says:

I’d rather fork out £40M for suarez than buy jackson martinez…Jackson has played for a champion’s leauge side and suarez has not and besides suarez had more expirience in the leauge

    • Super Gunner's says:

      40mil for suarez…
      Where have you been?

      • Max says:

Suarez won’t sign for Arsenal, especially not for £40 million. clause in his contract is believed to be in the £70 million mark. Forget about him

  • Willy milian says:

One word is enough for a wise man, sign him

    • ive says:

if it was your own money would you buy a £1 million pound house for£ 5 million, ….. is Jackson worth the money quoted?

  • Danny says:

Think someone needs a chill pill over here….

Who do you suggest we sign?

And if we don’t manage to win anything again this season then what will you say about Wenger?

You sound like a typical ‘sing when we’re you’re winning fan’. I want to know what you think at the end of the season IF we go trophyless.

Stop always backing Wenger. He’s done great things for the club in the past but his signings as of late have not been up to standard in my opinion. Very frugal man is Wenger even when he has LOADS of cash to spend

  • rabiu isaac says:

we need champion league player not a player that can’t feature

  • Laitan says:

Wow !! The heading says it all. I hope Mr Wenger is going to tell us after Jackson is snatched by another club scoring for another club “we almost signed him” While I respect Mr Wenger’s accomplishment his history concerning signing players is pathetic. He almost signed Messi. Ronaldo, Drogba. Ibrahimnovic…Sauarez ………. Fortune favors the brave NOT the hesitant !

    • ive says:

Take a look at the invincible they were real signings !!! You are just putting names together with no evidence. If Mr Wenger failed to sign the players you mentioned where is the evidence.

    • Ernie says:

Do y’all actually think he’s good enough to play for arsenal? Seriously? From what I’ve seen all he does is roam around by the shoulder of the defender and wait for a perfect pass. If he’s not scoring what else is he going to offer the team? Not much. There’s a reason why Wenger is the manager, not you. We’d go bankrupt is some of y’all fans were made manager. Whenever we’re on the hunt for a player in any part of our team, the question ALWAYS should be ‘Does the player for into our system’? If not can he adapt to our system? If the answer to these questions are no, especially for a forward and a midfielder, that player is NOT worth a huge chunk of money TO US. We can always gamble here and there for a few up and coming youngsters because they’ll have time to develop, but not on the first team players. So forget about Martinez. If we want a pure goalscorer, we got one. His name is podolski!
