Less than eight days to go in this years summer transfer window and Arsenal are yet to spend.
The Gunners have been linked with a long list of players over the past few months, but none of the reported targets have joined Arsene Wenger’s side.
As a result, fans began to voice their concerns at the lack of spending after the Villa game, with the blame placed fully on Arsene Wenger, and rightly so.
What can only be seen as a panic bid for Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye a few days ago, rumoured to be around £12 million, which may be Arsene’s way of trying to calm the fans down a little. But the offer was quickly turned down by The Magpies. Something that was expected to be honest.
Despite the rushed bid, do we really need Cabaye though?
Well for starters, the Frenchman possesses Premier League experience, he is a box-to-box midfielder, who has great vision when creating chances and picking out through balls, not to mention he has excellent technique when it comes to dead-ball situations either from the penalty spot or from free kicks and he is also a good finisher. An all round talented midfielder in my opinion.
He isn’t world class in my opinion. But he is an extremely good player who would no doubt add quality and depth to the squad. I’m sure he’d like the opportunity to play for us if a deal ever did materialize.
Despite the manner in which the bid was made, I would very much like to see Cabaye sign for us.
i dont think we need cabaya, if we can get John Mikel Obi from Chelsea, i think it will be a good addition to our team cos he can play that defensive midfield very well and also play midfield. what do you guys think?
I see Ramsey’s game improving much better with Kabaye’s arrival. so yes… sign him.
I see cabaye as not better than wishire arteta ramsey cazorla or rosicky. He has the edge on diaby though and is better than frimpong. If we are playing 433 or 4231 we need at least 6 midfielders so yes bring him in. Similarly we need at least 6 forwards walcott giroud podolski and chamberlain are 4 but I would like to see 2 more that are better than sanogo gnabry and ryo at least.
Arsenal won’t sign Cabaye, don’t be deceived by wenger anymore. He already knew he will sign Flamini plus one more on deadline day. But ultimately the squad need numbers, all this Gnabry, Zelalem, Sanogo are not ready honestly…Gunners for life.
I would say yes. A tackling midfielder is a big need. We look short for defence midfield cover. Would also bring cb and cf. Fingers crossed for quality needed.
Cab is average for me certainly not worth 12 mill we don’t want a player who strikes when a bid comes comes in he’s on massive wage show some professionalism.
You all are wrong Cabaye is a top class midfielder just that he’s just being under-rated because he’s not playing for a top club, how I wish Arsenal signs him so you can see his full potentials. He’s a complete midfielder, he has vision for passing,shooting,marking,power and overall he’s a dead ball specialist.
Please let someone plead with Wenger to get us two central defenders and one RHB. We also need a striker. All this Cabaye talk is distraction. We don’t need him please.

NUFC fan. I agree with those of you who say you don’t need him. IMO Wilshire, Ramsay, Walcott and AOC are outstanding young players and head n shoulders above Cabaye.
It’s well documented that its an area that Man U need to strengthen – yet they haven’t gone for him at all – if that doesn’t speak volumes I don’t know what would.
Wenger should focus on defence and attack. But if he wants to give us £20m for Cabayes that’s fine too.
Things may seem a bit gash down your way at the mo, but trust me, it would be a whole lot worse.
