Do we really need Cabaye? [have your say]

Yohan-Cabaye~5Less than eight days to go in this years summer transfer window and Arsenal are yet to spend.

The Gunners have been linked with a long list of players over the past few months, but none of the reported targets have joined Arsene Wenger’s side.

As a result, fans began to voice their concerns at the lack of spending after the Villa game, with the blame placed fully on Arsene Wenger, and rightly so.

What can only be seen as a panic bid for Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye a few days ago, rumoured to be around £12 million, which may be Arsene’s way of trying to calm the fans down a little. But the offer was quickly turned down by The Magpies. Something that was expected to be honest.

Despite the rushed bid, do we really need Cabaye though?

Well for starters, the Frenchman possesses Premier League experience, he is a box-to-box midfielder, who has great vision when creating chances and picking out through balls, not to mention he has excellent technique when it comes to dead-ball situations either from the penalty spot or from free kicks and he is also a good finisher. An all round talented midfielder in my opinion.

He isn’t world class in my opinion. But he is an extremely good player who would no doubt add quality and depth to the squad. I’m sure he’d like the opportunity to play for us if a deal ever did materialize.

Despite the manner in which the bid was made, I would very much like to see Cabaye sign for us.

I dont know why wenger always like french players whiles there are many better players around the globe like fellani, gundogan gustavo, matinez fuck u wenger

cabaye will fit in Arsenal very well but wenger shouldn’t go past 15m for him. The squad we have is not lacking quality but just numbers. Wenger is the best manager in the world n I’m sure he knos what best for Arsenal FC. Don’t let the media get into ur head arsenal fans.

What’s a few extra million if it gets you a player you need?

You pay what a player is worth, plus a premium.
      Youth/potential
      Not wanting to sell
      Rivals
Big club/buying club known to have plenty of cash

Take your pick. Every big club besides Arsenal have been doing this for years, and that is why we lose out when other clubs are involved.

Not paying more than a player’s perceived value is an admirable stance, but it will prove more costly when we eventually, inevitably, miss out on CL qualification because it.

We were hamstrung for years by the stadium investment, but it had to be done to allow us to compete… Now we CAN compete, we MUST do so.

Ofcourse we do Cabaye is on of the best midfeilders in the game when he is on form.. 19 assist in his first season in english football, it would give santi-cazolora/rosicky/arteta resting time. Think we should sign bender in the dm, since gustavo slipped through out fingers.

    • Savage says:

Re Bender, we can’t buy if the club won’t sell. In this case Newcastle are clearly willing to sell, so it’s just about agreeing the right price.

  • Savage says:

We have a great midfield, a title-winning midfield, but if Cabaye comes and understands that he will spend time on the bench, it’s a great signing.

This is a response to Ox’s injury, and Wenger accepting Diaby won’t come permanently right.

Altogether a good signing, get it done.

    • KC says:

Our midfield is not a title winning midfield. Dream on!

Cazorla, and maybe Walcott, are the only ones who are of title winning quality at the moment.

Wilshere isn’t at his best at the moment and Ramsey, though playing well, is over-rated and not good enough to start ahead of Cabeye.

Sign Cabeye, bench Ramsey, and when Wilshere get’s back to his best, we’ll have something resembling a title winning midfield.

  • Bug says:

    Not for £20m, no.

We need a World Class striker. Desperately. We are the only team in europe with ONE recognised striker. it is insane!!!

Buy any one from Rooney, Benzema, Suarez, Lewandowski, Sanche.
Not Michu. Not Ba. Not Dzeko.

  • Ibrahim kemokai says:

Arsenal need a very good midfielder like cabye. We need him

  • gooner says:

I agree with Charles.. these r just mind games played by authorities.. dunno if Wenger is also involved in it or he is also a victim like all of us.. whatever..
I believe if at all we decide to buy players I guess a striker should be our first priority… though goals r coming I m not happy with giroud.. he lacks sense of position n not a great finisher..n yet to gather confidence to go for goal.. during Fulham clash I think he missed two good opportunities.. second a goalkeeper
then a DM, we should buy a good left winger or else make Walcott and podolski swap places which will give them natural advantage of finishing..

  • gooner says:

we shud keep cabaye deal on hold n sign rooney.. I believe jose is just playing “off the pitch” football with manu.. we hv a chance of signing him..

  • Macky says:

Cabaye will indeed make our mid-field rich,we don’t have a set-piece specialist,Theo ain’t that good, cabaye gonna fill that void…..hope he recruits more special players before spurs game.

  • Cass says:

At first i said no way, but thinking about it neither Rosicky, Diaby or Wiltshire are always injury free and now what has also happen to Arteta we do need another experience midfielder – we can’t rely on the kids like Gnarby and Eisfield they are the future, so if the boys make the champion league tomorrow night along with the other competition they are in then the more players we have the better because Wenger needs to win a trophy this season and competition is healthy for the squad, it keeps everyone on their toes.
