Karim BenzemaThe hope of seeing Karim Benzema at Arsenal this season have all but been dashed by his agent Karim Djaziri.

The Gunners have been linked with the forward in the past, with Arsene Wenger being a keen admirer of the France international before he joined Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009, and Benzema’s name has once again popped up following failed attempts to acquire Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney as The Gunners look to bolster their squad before the summer window closes on September 2nd.

However, Wenger is expected to go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate his thinking after Benzema’s representative said no deal will materialize this summer.

Quoted in the Metro, Djaziri said:

‘We can’t stop the rumours. But I tell you: Karim will not go to Arsenal.

‘It’s never been a question for him and no contact has been made.’

Djaziri finished off by claiming Benzema could well see out his career at the Bernabeu:

‘Karim could very well finish his career at Real, the club of his dreams.’

Wenger has just over a week to go to find and bring in a new striker to the club (if of course he is in the market for one).

Who the Frenchman has up his sleeve (if any, in terms of strikers), only he knows. All we can do is wait patiently and see what occurs in the upcoming days.
