Is he really worth £50M?

|

Luis SuarezThis Luis Suarez saga looks set to last the distance doesn’t it?

Liverpool are determined to keep hold of the 26-year-old by placing a £50 million price-tag on his head.

We have supposedly offered two bids for the Uruguay international, a £35 million one and then newly an audacious yet rather cheeky £40 million plus a £1. Both bids were turned down, with Brendan Rodgers now insisting his star man is worth at least £50 million after seeing Edinson Cavani join PSG for around £54-55 million from Napoli.

Despite the aggro he receives from the media here in England, Suarez appears keen to join Arsenal as Arsene Wenger’s side can provide ultimately what he really desires – Champions League football.

It’s been reported that we are preparing to go as high as £42.5 million, but this will almost certainly be rejected by the Merseyside club.

We all know of Suarez’s quality, as well as his controversial behaviour, but is he really worth £50 million?

Well with the way the transfer market is these days, £50 million isn’t too bad for a player of Suarez’s calibre to be honest.

It looks like a lot of money and I’m surprised we are still actually chasing him. But what is £50 million to a club with financial stability like Arsenal? We could easily afford to splash this out on the Uruguayan and still have some cash left in the kitty to bring in other recruits.

The fact is if you want top players you have to spend top dollar to get them, and Suarez is undoubtedly one of the most prolific forwards in world football today who would certainly take us to the next level.

    No.

The phrase “more trouble than it’s worth” may well have been coined for Luis Suarez.

  • same old arsenal says:

If his on field behaviour continues,
Then he is not worth 50mil,
    Otherwise he is.

  • Arthur says:

He probably is. The problem is it doesn’t leave much money for the goalkeeper, centre half and DM we could do with. Will he be enough on his own to make us challengers?

  • Rodrick says:

Comparing with the prices other strikers have been sold Suarez is worth more than £50M and Arsenal should not waste us time just take the money and give so that we can have Suarez before the Emirates Cup we need him urgent. GUNNERZ 4 LIFE.

He worth the price but attitudes into the consideration first, all glitter are not gold.

No player is worth that obscene amount of money while kids live in poverty but if your comparing it with others then its a steal. He’s certainly a better player than Cavanni, and look at the amounts of money being mentioned for bale.He certainly a better player than him.Im afraid he’s using arsenal to stoke up madrids interest.

As a Liverpool supporter yeah he is worth £50m for his footballing ability but some of the crap that is being printed in the media is ridiculous. He’s not close to making a move to Arsenal yet.For one he has to submit an official transfer request. Two Liverpool are going to be very reluctant to sell to a rival which would seriously lessen Liverpools chances of getting top 4 (which is somewhat slim as it is).And don’t forget Madrid will come in for him and Liverpool are certainly going to be more willing to get him out of England even at a lesser price I’d say.But it makes me laugh at how I read so many Arsenal fans saying ‘please sign him Wenger’ etc. yet they were probably the ones booing him at the Emirates. And make no mistake about it unless Arsenal become a title winning side if he does end up joining you’s he’ll dump you just as fast for the likes of Madrid. It’ll be RVP all over again,in a sense what he’s done to Liverpool is not too different to what RVP done to your club,(although RVP never really dragged the reputation of Arsenal through the mud so Suarez is in some retrospect’s worse).
Whatever happens the likely-hood of him being at Anfield next season is basically nil and I couldn’t care less, either way Liverpool will be fine with or without him.

As an LFC supporter I can tell you he is, but what makes you think he will not walk out on you a few years down the line and if he does you will lose money as that will be the 3rd club he would have done it to and you will find it hard to sell him. As to Arthur’s question, yes he can if he stays on the pitch. To be honest I don’t care if he goes now as long as we get decent money for him. If you get him he could propel you to new heights but to be honest I hope he goes abroad for obvious reasons. I have watched him in every game and he is a magician but you do need at least one decent player nest to him who can read the game as well as he does.

Suarez worth all d penny if Arsenal have up to 70m pound and if LiverPool dn’t sell then Arsence go for Burak Yilmaz(25m), Benard(22m) and Fellaini(23m), and if Gerviho is sold we use d money to get Rami RB n push Sagna CB. I blive we good 2 go!
