Cash in on RVP and fund a move for this guy Wenger!

|

Well I’m pretty sure I’m going to get slated by people in the comments section no matter whatever happens! So without further-ado, the question I will be looking to answer is – should Arsenal cash in on Robin van Persie and aim to sign Napoli striker Edinson Cavani?

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis announced he’s open to the idea of selling Cavani, who is a prime target for fat-cats Chelsea and Manchester City.

In present time, Arsenal haven’t been linked with a move for the Uruguayan, but we could be in a position to try and sign the forward if Manchester United decide to offer us £25 million for RVP, which in my view would be foolish to turn down.

Van Persie turned 29 the other day so any move away from Arsenal would probably be his last big one, especially given his injury history. There are a lot of Arsenal fans who rightly don’t want to see the club sell him, especially not to another Premier League outfit, and again there are some fans who just want the saga to be over as soon as possible and don’t care where the Dutchman ends up.

If Arsenal do decide to cash in on Van Persie then they would be taking a risk. The risk being that he decides to have another season like he did last year and it all backfires on us.

However, there is also the gamble of if we keep him then he could have another one of his less successful seasons, pick up an injury and obviously lose him for nothing next summer.

Personally, I think we should just sell him, as I do not think he will perform anywhere nearly he did last season. Besides, he’s 29 and if we get £20-25 million for him then that would be great.

We have already bolstered our front-line with the acquisitions of Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud, so why not get rid of RVP if he wants to leave.

We also still have Theo Walcott and Gervinho who could both come into their own this season, but my gut feeling is that if Van Persie leaves then Theo may be close behind him.

So should Arsenal cash in on Van Persie? Probably. As I mentioned earlier, it would be taking a big risk but equally why should we know recoup a hefty amount and reinvest in someone like Cavani.

A move for Cavani would show the club’s intent to get back to the top and would certainly lift the fans if RVP goes. But I honestly cannot see the move happening. Are we realistically going to be able to match the wages that City or Chelsea are likely to offer a player who has scored 64 goals in two seasons? I doubt it.

But I think getting around £20 million for a 29-year-old forward would be good, especially if Arsenal decide to reinvest it elsewhere in the squad.

One thing is certain the next 21 days are going to be full of twists and turns, but whatever happens I’ll be backing The Gunners as always.

Cash in on RVP and try to bring in Cavani this summer?

man did you understand what you said, get rid of kocienly? Noooo! I think is high time for rvp to leave us. Y should we keep someone who dont want to play for us, this guy heart is somewhere plz let him gooo! But not to man u/city.i think what we need now is defender like colocini to help kocienly.colocini at the lft back, kocienly and verminator at the centre back then sagna at right back.walcot may come front cos that his normal position.

Why are we fans always asking Arsene to sell RVP? As if we are going to get some share of the money if sold. The money goes to those greedy bastards on the board. The only thing we derive as fans is the joy and excitement players give us when they play well and i am surprise everyone believes RVP would not be efficient as he was last season and would be injured. What if RVP have truly and finally got over his injury days and goes ahead to play very well for another 5 years? I expect us to be insisting that he should not be sold. If Spurs have refused to sell Modric who is not even training with the team then why should Arsenal sell RVP that has been widely reported to be very lively in training camp. Be warned! We cant get a player like Cavani or Falcao when Man City and Chelsea are there ready to give them the entire yearly budget of some countries. Cavani and even Falcao cant measure up to RVP in terms of quality. you dont know what you have until you lose. IMO RVP should be made to see out his contract even if he ends up not measuring well on the field it would only show that we cant be bullied by teams like MAN C and MAN U. We should also quit talking about embarking on an action to show intent, We are not out to show intentions but to win EPL. Any team can show ambition by buying players but what matters at the end of the day is when the ambitions translate into trophy. What is the use of ambition when it doesnt yield result or give us trophy. Please Gooners lets wake up!!! RVP should be held to his contract, the best thing that can happen now is for AFC to come out and say RVP is not for sale.

I think Arsenal shd not sell RVP unless red faced pays crazy money or the minimum price of 20 plus 5 million gbp bandied about. Then Arsenal shd insist he cannot play the two games against the gunners and away games against Chelsea,Liverpool and MC.These conditions are designed to frustrate the red faced.
Of course he will not abide by this after getting the dm.The gunners can insist on a legal clause able to withstand the scritiny in the courts and FA.
Red faced is facing pressure because two or three season with out winning the epl or fa is the signal time is running ot for him to retire. He may think by getting RVP,he could win the cl.
My greatest wish is for him to meet Feb in the cl final with spanish scoring the winner.
That will really make me jump a thousand times.

the man everyone would want to replace rvp is falcao, shame athletico want 40mill for him, im surprised barca aint gone in for him, they would win the league for the next few years comfortably with him imo. but yeah only player who wouldnt be a step down from rvp would be falcao imo

  • Ars says:

why not try to give RVP to Napoli plus 5-10million and get cavani that wat plus RVP has to chill at a midtable serie A team

  • DocBrody says:

    So how about Silent Stan?

If Silent Stan is the “greedy Yank” he’s been made out to be, then explain how it is that Arsenal have spent ~40 million so far… and still appear to be aggresively in the market.

On top of that, they’re putting another 35 to 45 million at risk by inisting that both van Persie and Walcott play out their contracts. That’s crazy right? Can’t happen.

I think that Arsenal is better off with Silent Stan, compared to the previous 5 or 6 years.

He’d barely gotten control when Fabragas and Nasri were sold. Those ships had sailed. But since then, he’s approved the purchase of 5 players on one day. 5 players he is very unlikely to make his money back on.

And of course their is Podolski, Giraurd, and now Cazorla.

Am I the only one? Does anyone else think Stan Kroenke is OK?

Of course you have to wonder, if Usmanov was the owner, what kind of crazy money would he spend on amazing talent (or is that giving in to the dark side)?
