Is this becoming a summer trend?

So over a week ago we heard that Sergio Busquets would welcome Alex Song to the Nou Camp.

Then on Wednesday we heard Andres Iniesta have his say on the matter, stating his admiration for Song.

Now it’s the turn of defender Gerard Pique to do a bit of brown-nosing.

The Cameroon international has attracted the attention of Barcelona, with the Spanish club believed to be preparing a move for the 24-year-old before the summer transfer window shuts due to the departure of Seydo Keita.

This has left The Gunners preparing a new-bumper deal for the tenacious midfielder, despite having two-years left to run on his existing contract.

Now if we weren’t already unhappy with the words and, in my view, some illegal tapping up by Busquets and Inesta, then I’m pretty sure Pique’s latest statement would have definitely angered and riled up some Gooners out there.

The former Manchester United centre-back says he would be ‘happy to welcome’ the defensive midfielder to the Nou Camp:

‘Song is a great player with an impressive physical ability and good technique.

‘If he comes, which, from what I’ve read looks like it could happen, we are happy to welcome you.’

Clearly the Spanish trio are trying to persuade Song to quit Arsenal for Barcelona, like they (the club’s players) did with Cesc Fabregas last summer, and I’m almost certain, than I am Caucasian, that we’ll be seeing/hearing a few more Barca players express their ‘admiration’ and praise the Cameroonian before the summer is up.

Anyone want to take a bet on this?

I didn’t think so.

Oh Yeah, Tom. Do we have any direct quotes to suggest Wenger is interested or that Song has shown any interest? The silent treatment Wenger has been given to all the speculation is just the perfect ‘response’ and I am loving this. Come August 31, the rags will slow down with the speculations and find some new fancy to get the fickle minded amongst the fans worked up about.

D issue is that many club want asenal to fall and they now know dat arsenal board has a weakness ; they love money more than anyting on earth; so d desperate clubs leverage on dat and arsenal always fall for it. Baca is playin politics wit arsenal by making sure dey deflate d club every year, if arsenal get back to d top of thire game bacelona know insightfully well wat arsenal will become they don’t want that to happen, there are players everywhere baca can buy, WHY ALWAYS ARSENAL? Send it tru now. It is not duplicate do u understand.

Why dont we finally once and for all tell these tapping up daigos to pee right off.
I’m sick every summer of those turds Pique and Iniesta saying how perfect the latest Arsenal player they are tapping up is for Barcelona. I guess we cant rely on Platini and those other wasters at UEFA to finally put a stop to this tapping up, after all Arsenal are englisjh and we all know Platini hates english clubs.
Song Arsenal are much better than you. Bugger off if you want but remember Hleb was a much better player than you and look what Barcelona did to his career!!!

If you’re referring to the press handpicking arsenal players and creating transfer stories about them to feed their incessant jealousy and hatred of the club, then, yes, I suppose it is a trend.

The funny thing is, those very same people who always claimed Song was rubbish, another of Wenger’s failed youth experiments, are now saying he is a lynchpin, another world class star we are losing!!!

What a joke. Personally, I don’t think a few nice lobbed balls forward hide the fact that he isn’t an especially good DM. He still has time to improve ofcourse, and I have nothing against the guy, but he isn’t even as good as flamini yet imo.
