Cash in on RVP and fund a move for this guy Wenger!

|

Well I’m pretty sure I’m going to get slated by people in the comments section no matter whatever happens! So without further-ado, the question I will be looking to answer is – should Arsenal cash in on Robin van Persie and aim to sign Napoli striker Edinson Cavani?

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis announced he’s open to the idea of selling Cavani, who is a prime target for fat-cats Chelsea and Manchester City.

In present time, Arsenal haven’t been linked with a move for the Uruguayan, but we could be in a position to try and sign the forward if Manchester United decide to offer us £25 million for RVP, which in my view would be foolish to turn down.

Van Persie turned 29 the other day so any move away from Arsenal would probably be his last big one, especially given his injury history. There are a lot of Arsenal fans who rightly don’t want to see the club sell him, especially not to another Premier League outfit, and again there are some fans who just want the saga to be over as soon as possible and don’t care where the Dutchman ends up.

If Arsenal do decide to cash in on Van Persie then they would be taking a risk. The risk being that he decides to have another season like he did last year and it all backfires on us.

However, there is also the gamble of if we keep him then he could have another one of his less successful seasons, pick up an injury and obviously lose him for nothing next summer.

Personally, I think we should just sell him, as I do not think he will perform anywhere nearly he did last season. Besides, he’s 29 and if we get £20-25 million for him then that would be great.

We have already bolstered our front-line with the acquisitions of Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud, so why not get rid of RVP if he wants to leave.

We also still have Theo Walcott and Gervinho who could both come into their own this season, but my gut feeling is that if Van Persie leaves then Theo may be close behind him.

So should Arsenal cash in on Van Persie? Probably. As I mentioned earlier, it would be taking a big risk but equally why should we know recoup a hefty amount and reinvest in someone like Cavani.

A move for Cavani would show the club’s intent to get back to the top and would certainly lift the fans if RVP goes. But I honestly cannot see the move happening. Are we realistically going to be able to match the wages that City or Chelsea are likely to offer a player who has scored 64 goals in two seasons? I doubt it.

But I think getting around £20 million for a 29-year-old forward would be good, especially if Arsenal decide to reinvest it elsewhere in the squad.

One thing is certain the next 21 days are going to be full of twists and turns, but whatever happens I’ll be backing The Gunners as always.

Cash in on RVP and try to bring in Cavani this summer?

He had a bad olympics. Bt still for me the man to replace rvp is FALCO. Wat a beast he is.

  • maldito049 says:

Sell him abroad even for 15mil, but never, NEVER to United no matter how high the offer!!!

His personal terms are likely to be way beyond us.
If we got £25 million I’d buy Jermaine Defoe and invest in a better back-up keeper, utility defender and defensive midfielder. Defoe would love to play for us (he was a Gooner as a boy) and he’d get a lot of goals given the creativity we now have. I’d look at Craig Gordon in goal,Capoue in midfield and think seriously about Mathijsen who Malaga have to sell

      Defoe???? are you serious

I agree on Jermain Defoe. I think under AW he could flourish into an Ian Wright type player. Even if he is 29. I’d have him over Chamakh any day

25m 4 ManU n 20m 4 others; that’s our quotation. No team has come near these figures so how are we gonna cash in?

  • shogzy says:

  • ogban says:

And if fat cash Chelsea want Cavani, you think Arsenal can compete? Be realistic, man.

  • bob says:

i think v perise should be sold

he wont be as good as last seasion and i got a feeing he will get injured this year. his 29 getting 20m will be smart and his wages are high.

i would prefer selling him to juve tho even for 15m

If there is no fund to buy Cavani, forget about him for this season and maintain rvp. If still interested in Cavani, then sell rvp out of England to juvay. plz plz plz do NOT sell him to any of the premiership clubs, with special reference to Man United. We the arsenal fans do not want any humiliation from any of the arch rivals this 2012/ 2o13 season. PLZ Wenger act accordingly.

I’m just sick of this issue over and over again talking and reading about RVP. My mind so fixated all the time that I can’t browse without perusing thru issues surrounding Man Utd and RVP…Let VP go where his greed is taking and we forget about him completely..When Fab, Nas, etc left we felt and our hearts rested and so will be RVP. Oops! BUT NOT MAN U atleast.
