So, another big name has been linked with Arsenal. Well, only this time it actually looks like a transfer that might actually ensue.

According to reports, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are in advanced talks regarding a possible move for Franck Ribery to the Emirates this summer. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Bayern Munich had an extremely disappointing season last time around as they finished third in the Bundersliga. So Bayern have been pretty busy in the transfer market this summer landing the likes of Manuel Neuer, Rafinha and Jerome Boateng. Apart from the players coming in, Bayern are also looking to offload injury-prone players and all the deadwood as they look to revamp their squad to challenge for the Bundersliga and Champions League this season. The biggest name that appears to be on his way out of the German club is France winger Franck Ribery.

It appears that Arsenal are considering a £22 million offer to sign the injury-prone star. You might also be interested to hear what Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis had to say a few days ago:

‘We still will be active in this window.’

‘We haven’t finished our business at all. We’re just not conducting it publicly; we’re working hard privately.’

Is this one of those ‘private’ negotiations Mr. Gazidis was talking about? Well, if that is the case, then Arsenal are certainly doing some serious business out there. I say this because Ribery is one of the biggest names in football right now and has shown enough of his ability on the big stage to prove this.

It is also believed that Wenger has always been a great admirer of the Bayern star. Well, he is French and so it is understandable. But it is understood that Wenger never considered making an offer for Ribery because of his hefty price-tag of around £40 million a few years ago. But after an injury hit season, in which Ribery made only 22 starts, Bayern are ready to cash in on the winger and will probably allow him to go for around £22 million. It appears that Arsene Wenger has marked him as the perfect replacement should Fabregas or Nasri leave the club this summer.

Practically, he isn’t exactly a like-for-like replacement for either Fabregas or Nasri, but the Frenchman brings with him a wealth of international and Champions League experience, something Arsenal are in dire need of. Being a natural winger, Ribery’s arrival might also make Wenger think of some major tactical changes that will bring out the best in the explosive Frenchman.

His football talents need no mentioning. He has all the attributes that a winger requires and his right foot is absolutely amazing.

Arsene, I have faith in you bring him to Arsenal and put him in the left win meaning you can put nasri in the middle and then sell fabregas have Gervinho and RVP up front. That way Arsenal pace will be very quick because of walcoot and ribery on the wings and nasri in the middle pushing up while wilsher and song stay back to help the defence if this does not happen then you can always put Miyaichi on the left wing

We need a big name signing but not an injury pronE stricker like Ribery..wenger needs to act fast so d new signings can blend b4 the season starts..pls we need to concetrate more on defence for now instead of offensive players..plus d deadwoods shld b shown d way out to cut expenses..

Wenger is starting to use his head. frank would really help build up competition within players like Nasri, miyachi nd walcottt.
If arsenal buys frank, They can push Nasri to the middle and buy a player like Hamsik or mata. after that distracting cesc fabregas goes to barcelona.

Well if really to put some big names and experience player to the squared that is what we are talking about, let the boy go if he want to.but if there are ways to keep or bring the boy’s heart back to the team then you are really the father of those boys.we still love you but we will also love to win.

  • mr, wenger is lie you will no buy bilal

  • stu says:

no not ribery – he is on the decline + weve got enough attackers at the mo unless both CESC & NASRI are leaving

if we are going to spend £20 million + on a “ribery” type of player then go for Eden Hazard or Marko Marin or Juan Mata – all 3 players hungry for success

or £20 million for a centre back AND left back would be more suited at this current point

Lets 4get Wenger & his dribblin skills… Ribery,if Bayern wants 2 sell, wil nt com any less dan £27-£30m & dats one figure,Wenger can neva pay evn if it means sackn him.. His limit is £13-£15 & any playr abov dat range is considerd, xpensiv… Hav u guys takn d tym 2 find out why Arsenal mssd out on som1 lyk Phil Jones..? Why is Gary Cahill’s deal stil bn delayd til now….? Figures ar abov d £13-£15m mark. Maybe nxt seasn, whn d new FIFA or UEFA financial fair play rules coms 2 practise, then Arsenal can get scintillatn playrs 4 as low as £10m bt evn then, wil Arsenal attract big names, remain 2 b seen.. Any which way shaaa….we remain Gunners 4 life….!

  • Busch says:

If Nasri and Cesc go this summer, it will be too late to get suitable replacements, all the ones we’d want will be taken by other clubs or recommitted to their club, so no real point in speculating about any ‘big signings’.

This is Arsenal, they won’t happen.

AW should get one more season to do it his way and if it does not work he should be made to radically change his ways or be forcefully retired
