Are Arsenal pricing Bendtner out of the market?

|

One of Arsenal’s summer rumours is the likely departure of Nicklas Bendtner to German giants Bayern Munich. However, with Arsenal quoting a figure of £8.7 million for him to depart the Emirates, will any club actually be interested?

Many Arsenal fans appear to be conflicted over the price slapped on the strikers head. Some fans may believe that we are pricing him too high, so that nobody will buy him. Some may believe the opposite, and that we should get a lot more for him. Others, however, may agree with the valuation.

In my opinion, £8.7 million is a lot for Bendtner, who has done very little all season (9 goals in 32 appearances in total) and continues to express his desire to leave North London. However, if Bayern Munich are willing to pay that amount, then I believe we would have to be arrested for daylight robbery.

As you can tell, I am not a fan of Nicklas Bendtner. The way he has sulked this season reminds me all too much of Nicholas Anelka in his Arsenal days (just not as talented). I think Arsenal setting a price of £8.7 million for the 23-year-old forward is being very optimistic. But, one must wonder, has Arsene Wenger done this purely for negotiation purposes?

Nicklas Bendtner has also caused uproar in Denmark recently, announcing that he will not be participating in the European Under-21 Championship – which is being held in his own country. Apparently the reason for this is that he wants to spend more time with his family. My opinion is more along the lines of – Bendtner feels that the Under-21 squad is beneath him, and that he shouldn’t have to play with youngsters that are not, in his mind, to his standards.

I am hopeful that someone will take him off our hands during the summer, so that we can use the money to buy a player who isn’t so confused about his own talent, because in my view, the Dane is way down the pecking order behind Robin van Persie, Marouane Chamakh and Theo Walcott.

Earlier this week, Thomas Bendtner (Nicklas Bendtner’s father and agent) was quoted in The Guardian saying:

‘I can say that there is serious interest from English and German clubs and it is not going to be a problem to find him a good club.’

If this is the case, may we wish him all the best in whatever club he does decide to join, and if he needs someone to drive him to the airport to ensure he departs safely for the Emirates, then I will be more than happy to offer my services as a taxi driver that day.

Bendtner is symbolic of the change needed at our great club. he can finish but not consistantly but he is selfish to the extreme! i blame him in a big way for the barca loss. not for the miss at the end of the second leg(which was pretty awful) but for the chance to go three one up in the home tie RVP was in an acre of space and bendy decided to smash it against valdes from an impossible angle. that one decision finally sealed my opinion of bendtner. you must have the walk to back up the talk, and at the moment our not so great dane has got quite a limp. Chamakh is quality for a 3rd choice, if lord wenger gets the keys to the benzema plus rockin robin, that my bredrin will be a millitant strike force! strong centre back then competion\cover for song(other than frimpong who will need more time) then with oxlade, ryo ashley young(a gooner) with wee willy walcott and nazzer dem wings will fly. Really believe there is the money now for some fun finally!!

He’s a great player. Just not for us. If he was at Everton or somewhere similar and he STARTED up front every game, he would easily notch up 25 goals per season. I have no doubt about this. He’s a bit lanky but he’s strong, not injury prone and he powers his way at defenders at full sprint … then misses more time than not. However, he won’t always miss fire. The player is very good, I don’t care what people say. As for 8 Million, what a joke. That is peanuts and he will be snapped up for that easily. I would expect at least 11million for him.

@WillyBilly all the most prolific strikers in the world are selfish. You want strikers to be selfish. You want them to shoot. A striker is always going have a better chance of scoring and it’s better for them to shoot and miss 10 times before scoring one goal, than it is for him to keep passing the damn ball to another player like Chamakh keeps doing and even Van Persie. I get so frustrated when he passes the ball when in shooting range. Most players over hit the ball when they strike because they aint strikers, so why pass to them. I want strikers to be selfish. Do you think Ronaldo at OT would have been so prolific if he wasn’t selfish? Wayne Rooney is a centre forward, that’s a different thing altogether, he plays from very deep like Bergkamp did. A striker is meant to be selfish.

i agree with you mate, i was using the barca thing as an example of his over confidence, no other striker in the world would have shot in that situation! 2 1 up against barca with 5mins left! the point is confidence is good, but bendtner is deluded!! as i said he aint got the skills to back his claims yet and i think even wenger is tired now. you want to be a regular arsenal striker but when you do play you cant step up! maybe if bendy had not told the media that he is the best in the world then he wouldnt be so harshly judged! yes strikers need to be selfish, but without awareness they become usless. he should have been able to cope playing a little wider, he has got a great cross(i think his best skill) and yes can bendt it in the top corner but only after an hour to think about. but most importantly of all bendtner represents the spoilt vein running through this team, what has he done really to have such an ego?

Decent striker, at least worth 12m if not more, he over estimates himself, fun you under estimate him!
