Are Arsenal pricing Bendtner out of the market?

|

One of Arsenal’s summer rumours is the likely departure of Nicklas Bendtner to German giants Bayern Munich. However, with Arsenal quoting a figure of £8.7 million for him to depart the Emirates, will any club actually be interested?

Many Arsenal fans appear to be conflicted over the price slapped on the strikers head. Some fans may believe that we are pricing him too high, so that nobody will buy him. Some may believe the opposite, and that we should get a lot more for him. Others, however, may agree with the valuation.

In my opinion, £8.7 million is a lot for Bendtner, who has done very little all season (9 goals in 32 appearances in total) and continues to express his desire to leave North London. However, if Bayern Munich are willing to pay that amount, then I believe we would have to be arrested for daylight robbery.

As you can tell, I am not a fan of Nicklas Bendtner. The way he has sulked this season reminds me all too much of Nicholas Anelka in his Arsenal days (just not as talented). I think Arsenal setting a price of £8.7 million for the 23-year-old forward is being very optimistic. But, one must wonder, has Arsene Wenger done this purely for negotiation purposes?

Nicklas Bendtner has also caused uproar in Denmark recently, announcing that he will not be participating in the European Under-21 Championship – which is being held in his own country. Apparently the reason for this is that he wants to spend more time with his family. My opinion is more along the lines of – Bendtner feels that the Under-21 squad is beneath him, and that he shouldn’t have to play with youngsters that are not, in his mind, to his standards.

I am hopeful that someone will take him off our hands during the summer, so that we can use the money to buy a player who isn’t so confused about his own talent, because in my view, the Dane is way down the pecking order behind Robin van Persie, Marouane Chamakh and Theo Walcott.

Earlier this week, Thomas Bendtner (Nicklas Bendtner’s father and agent) was quoted in The Guardian saying:

‘I can say that there is serious interest from English and German clubs and it is not going to be a problem to find him a good club.’

If this is the case, may we wish him all the best in whatever club he does decide to join, and if he needs someone to drive him to the airport to ensure he departs safely for the Emirates, then I will be more than happy to offer my services as a taxi driver that day.

We should sell him at whatever price. Let’s face it he hasn’t played much and when he has played he not impressed. I would be very happy to see the back of him. 8 million is probably overpriced for a player who is rubbish, but hey if they pay it why not. Persoanlly though I wouldn’t even pay 1 penny for him as I don’t rate him at all.

£8.7M is a lot of money for someone who has the ability of someone who cant even walk.
im suprised he paying clubs to take him….as you can tell, i dont like bendtner either lol x

  • Alfie says:

Joke, he is at least worth 10m if andy Carroll is 25 and Torres 50…(not that he is that quality but as a backup striker he is value) You seem to have a AW valuation mentality. (from a different planet!) he is 23 and still a lot to learn so he can be moulded unlike a Darren bent and how much did he go for????

    • Iain says:

The big difference being Bendtner has played 28 games and scored 9, Andy Carroll has 28 and scored 13 and well Torres…well ok he’s a bad example but you can bet that liverpool are still laughing about getting £50 million for him!!!

  • allen says:

that must be a joke, 8.7 million is way below his value,, what are you even writing? sometimes i tend to believe that some of these blog guys have a sense of maturity and reasoning but with this type of article it seems once has to stop visiting pages like this,,, andy carol is 35m torres is 50, benzeman when he went to madrid was 35 and u thing bendtner was less than 15m, thats why when some of you critices wenger i see you as fools, because you lack good sense of judgement, i hope you publish this response.

You can bet we will publish the response 🙂 This is why I wrote the article. I’m not here to insult anybody

Your response goes to prove exactly my point in the article

My article and my figure is based solely on him and not any other players.

That is good money for someone like him who miss 50 clear chances of scoring that can be scored by a blind person,he can join any team in India.

  • dw says:

8million thats a joke, all the clubs that want are players are taking the p*ss , 8mill we get you a back up keeper Not a young talented striker. Bentdner dident have a chance this season Its sad coz v persie was on fire, and he does Need to be playing ,but he mite have to leave To do that.

  • sam says:

Please don’t suggest him to come to India… Lol

  • nickeress bender says:

8 mil is a joke. I would at least expect 15 as a minimum. ok he has had a sh*t season ON THE WING. But when we were in dire straits last season without a striker, he stood up and scored a few important goals. Personally I would be gutted to see him go, not only do I have to change my tag, but also I believe he can be as good as he claims he can be. Raw potential as a striker, not a winger. And before everyone harps on about the one he missed at Barca’ you have got to remember if VP didn’t look for vengence for his first booking, he would not of got sent off for his second, also we were being taken to the cleaners at camp nou..! I gotta feeling he is going to come back and haunt us!

  • mr creosote says:

allen is right. you lot are fools. bendtner is worth a decent price. he’s getting better and has been playing out of position all season. i’d not take less than 13/14 million. but then what do i know.

  • Will Savage says:

Bearing in mind that he’s spent most of those appearances as a right winger, that’s not the worst goal to game ratio possible. The talent is there, but admitedlly he’ll struggle to get games behind Van Persie. I reckon 9 to 10 million would be a fair price.
