The Spaniard, who has 3 goals and 11 assist in 29 appearances to his name this season, has made no secret of his desire to one day return to his boyhood club, and this could possibly be the summer in which he is granted his wish.
However, the issue of how much Arsenal want in order to relinquish Fabregas will once again be the main factor. Reports suggest that The Gunners will demand at least £45 million for their captain – a figure which is yet to be matched by Barca, although the La Liga champions are willing to supplement their offer with a choice of players.
Wenger has in the past expressed is admiration for 20-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara, but he is expected to be out of reach as Barca rate him highly. Another possible candidate is Spanish forward Bojan Krkic, who is said to be involved in a swap deal with Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi this summer.
I feel like I’m one of those announcers on the train that tell travellers what station is next on route, but I will say it once again for all those who may be new visitors to this site – we have sold better players than Fabregas and have survived, and quite frankly, no player is bigger than the club, especially one that’s future is always in question every summer.
This alleged £26.5 million plus a choice of two fringe players offer could be worth a look into for Arsenal this summer, as they could profit from it in both the finance and personnel sector.
I would personally ask for Bojan and Ibrahim Afellay plus the cash stated for Cesc Fabregas, but if it’s not to the Gunners liking then fair enough. However, I truly believe Fabregas’ departure is inevitable this summer, despite Wenger recently stating that his future lies with Arsenal.

If it’s £26.5M + 2 fringe players (of which I can’t think of any good enough to really sort out our problems), then why not go to Real Madrid and ask for Benzema + £20M instead! I think that’s a much better deal! The £20M can then be used to bring in Hazard! I am sure Fabregas will consider Real Madrid!
At the end of the day, I don’t mind seeing Fab go, but I just don’t want it to be Barca, just because of the attitude of the players there! Don’t get me wrong, they are great players, but their attitude STINKS!

I believe that Cesc is a world class player, however I do NOT think he is as important as everyone is making out. Our best form was probably early in the season when Nasri played in a central role, a role he doesn’t play when Fabregas is on the pitch. Combine Nasri’s good form with RVP’s scoring spree and we have more than enough talent up front and in midfield. If we got Pique in return for Cesc I would be happy.
Affelay, Bojan plus a reasonable amount of money is twice better than the Cesc of this season believe me. The more we hold on to Cesc the more damage he will be doing.
I think we should only keep him if Hazard is coming to give him competition.
I think it is inevitable that Fabregas will leave this summer and go to Barca. I would like Fabregas to stay but if he were to leave, and Barca offer this deal then we should get Bojan Kcric and Affeley plus money.
