£26M plus two Barca fringe players for Fabregas this summer – Deal or no deal?

|

Barcelona are preparing to launch their latest bid to prise Cesc Fabregas away from the Emirates the day after the Champions League final, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish giants will meet Manchester United a week on Saturday at Wembley, where the two sides will compete for the most prestigious prize in European football. But rumours in Spain are already speculating that Barca will make a move for the Arsenal captain within hours of the final, depending on the outcome.

If Pep Guardiola’s side triumph on the day, then any bidding for Fabregas could be delayed. However, if United were to be victorious, Barca could immediately start negotiating a deal for the 24-year-old Spaniard the following day.

According to Spanish newspaper, El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will look to table an offer of £26.5 million – plus a choice of two fringe players, a deal which could tempt the Gunners this time around.

Fabregas left his boyhood club eight years ago when he was just a teenager. Since then, Cesc has matured and developed into one of Europe’s leading midfielders as well as becoming Arsenal’s skipper.

The Spanish international, who won a World Cup medal in South Africa last summer, was close to leaving the Emirates at the end of last season, but Arsene Wenger managed to persuade his talisman to stay put for another year.

However, following yet another sub-standard season at Arsenal, fresh fears over Fabregas’ future have once again surfaced, which has left many speculating whether the midfielder has in fact played his last game for the Gunners.

Barca, who have been credited by many as the best team in world football today, believe it’s time for Fabregas to return home, and evidently, play alongside Spanish duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the midfield.

This will be a great deal. But Barca should Up the offer to #30M + Thiago Alacantra+ Bojan Kcric, then let’s do a deal Arene… Cesc’s heart is already @ Camp Nou, so they meet up with the above stated offer. We’re ready to say bye bye.

You’re off your trolly! Bojan is quality, yes but alacantra..well, he’s just not! But the point being selling Francesc, our tallisman and captain would be insipid! He’s indespensible. This subject should be cast aside like Wenger has done with it. We need to be a better team and that doesn’t start by us selling our best players!

      • Jp says:

He doesn’t want to be here anymore, the longer we wait tge the less we will get.
Cesc is a great player but Arsenal will be here long after he has gone so let’s just move on.

can him, his 2 best assists this season were in the second leg against barcelona and the nice pass to huddlestone against tottenham. he is obviously not hurt we pulled him from the lineup right before a game when he was going to start. i think the cash w/ bojon and affelay would be perfect. lets face it he scored over 20 goals last year to his wopping 3, and he is injury prone. he is out at least 3 times a year for at least 3 weeks at a time, and lets not forget how nasri is better than cesc at his own position

  • coob23 says:

throw in afellay and we could maybe deal but i love cesc and he is so crucial so would much rather he didnt go…

I find it strange that you appear more inclined to believe unsubstantiated rumours and reports from unknown or dubious sources rather than the emphatic remarks coming from Arsene Wenger and Fabreghas himself which clearly contradict what you are saying. In veiw of the fact that Arsenal have always said and continue to say that Cesc is not for sale how has this figure come about which Arsenal apparently would be happy to accept. To quote you ‘Reports suggest that The Gunners will demand at least £45 million for their captain’. Well what reports and from where, certainly not from Arsenal which are the only ones that matter, as you should know if you are a supporter that the club never reveal details of their transfer dealings. Show a bit of respect to the club you supposedly support and stop propogating this speculative nonsense.

If you believe Cesc Fabregas is staying at Arsenal this summer, a player that clearly doesn’t want to play for the club and wants to go back to Spain, then your as deluded as Wenger mate.

Didn’t Wenger quash rumours about Vieira leaving a few months before the summer? What happened there, he left. Wasn’t Wenger saying that Henry will stay with Arsenal after being linked to Barca? what happened he left.

Clearly you fall for Wenger’s nonsense but I don’t. I really hope Cesc does leave coz his head and heart isn’t in the club so we can move on.

We have lost better and survived.

      • dollar bill says:

tony merakli ur so right it’s supports like u that make our team great. Cesc is gone…..period

  • dzady says:

let the player go were he want . how can arsenal keep a player he does not want to stay !!

  • elboy says:

We dnt wnt no barca players
Just pay our price for him or p off

  • Dutchgunner says:

30m affelay and bojan and I would say yes

  • joshgunner says:

I guess Tony is finalising the transfers taking place at the emerates this summer. Not like Arsene has a say. So tony are we making an offer for Messi and Ronney and is Nasri really leaving arsenal and joining fenerbache???

    • Tony Merakli says:

Dude do you honestly believe Fabregas will stay? seriously? Not a chance. I just keep it real and don’t live in hope like other Arsenal fans do.

  • Salim says:

@ Tony u just hater of Arsenal, thoose 2 players u said about Arsene refuse their living Viera and Hendry they don’t leave the time of spaculation, only after 3 to 5 years, wake up ur brain.
I like to cash in for Cesc not because he wanna go, but we have enough players to cover his position, I would like to see Nasri, Rambo, and Jack to take that roll.
TONY THIS IS ARSENAL, THEY WILL SELL THE PLAYER THE ONE THEY WANNA SELL, AND NOT THE ONE U WANNA THEM TO SELL.
    GO TO HELL TONY.

    • Tony Merakli says:

Yeh I must be a big hater of Arsenal, I’ve only supported the club for over 20 years and actually live in London.

The fact is Wenger keeps telling us that Fabs will stay, so if this is true, then why doesn’t he tie him down for another 3-4 years? I’ll tell you why, becoz Cesc doesn’t want to remain at Arsenal.

I ain’t gonna call you names or tell you to go to hell like you have done to me, coz I’m a grown-up, and frankly, it’s not my style. You don’t like what you read then avert your eyes elsewhere mate. simple as. Peace.

  • Arsenal4Life says:

    26.5 million + Messi + Inniesta! Hahahahah

I think that 35 + Bojan + Afellay would be a done deal!

  • MartyP says:
