Darren Bent believes Arsenal should consider signing Dele Alli.

The 24-year-old was replaced at half-time during Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Everton on the opening weekend of the Premier League and has been left out of the squad for the past two games.

The England international has now been linked with a move away from Tottenham with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested.

However, despite Alli’s omission from the squad, Jose Mourinho has stated that he expects the midfielder to remain at Tottenham after the transfer window closes next week.

But Bent has urged Alli to consider his options after falling out with Mourinho.

The former Spurs forward told talkSPORT:

“He’s been at Tottenham for a while now, and I think maybe he’s a product of a process where he’s been at Spurs, they’ve got to the Champions League final, but other than that, there’s been a couple of top-four finishes.

“I think any player comes a point where they need a fresh challenge.

“I think for Dele Alli, Mourinho has come in, they’ve clashed, and I think he’s thinking, ‘I need a new challenge here’.

“I think he deserves that. He’s not going to be happy playing Carabao Cup games because they play Chelsea in the week and if they get beat that’s no more Carabao Cup. So are we saying we won’t see him in the Premier League for weeks and weeks?

“We can’t wait until the FA Cup, so if I’m Dele Alli I’m looking at an option to get out of there.”

Bent was then asked if rivals Arsenal should consider signing Alli this summer:

“100 per cent. I wouldn’t even hesitate.”

Arsenal are reportedly in the market to sign a midfielder this transfer window, with Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar both being touted as potential recruits.
