Much of the Arsenal fanbase were left ruing the club’s previous decisions after N’Golo Kante put in a masterclass performance against Liverpool on Wednesday night in the UEFA Super Cup.
Chelsea were defeated on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time but it was the showing from Kante which had fans of all clubs drooling over the box-to-box midfielder with some of the Emirates faithful taking a keen interest.
The 28-year-old has blessed our screens since joining Leicester City in 2015 where he went on to win a Premier League title before earning a £32m move to Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea.
Following that transfer, ex-Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed that he had tried to sign the 5 foot 6 ace, hinting that finances may have been an issue.
A number of Arsenal fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on what could have been.
One supporter blasted Ivan Gazidis before wondering if it would have been different under their current setup which includes Raul Sanllehi, the man praised for the club’s summer spending.
Another Gooner said he cried about it as the club spent £30m on Granit Xhaka instead whilst others said it would have been an ‘absolute steal’ and that Kante is one of the best midfielders.
This man was available for £24M and wanted to join Arsenal but that bald fraud called Ivan Gazidis had other plans. If only we had Raul Sanllehi back then. pic.twitter.com/M8LwdDCicx

Don’t forget Wenger’s role as well. He missed out on a lot of quality players who really wanted to play for Arsenal in his time.
