Arsenal offer teenage Ufa defender trial

|

Arsenal have offered Ufa defender Igor Diveev a trial as Unai Emery targets the youngster.

The 18-year-old impressed as Russia’s Under-20’s reached the final of the COTIF-2018 tournament, and Russian publication Championat, as reported by The Sun, claims Ufa president Shamil Gazizov has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the defender.

Diveev is yet to make his senior debut for Ufa but is believed to have caught the eye of Arsenal’s scouts while on international duty.

Emery already invested in Arsenal’s back line this summer by adding Sokratis and Stephan Lichtsteiner, but the defence still seems to have some problems having conceded five goals in the club’s first two Premier League matches against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Should the Gunners manage to sign Diveev after his trial period ends then the young Russian will more than likely be placed in the Arsenal reserve team where he will gain further experience and develop his ability.
