Arsenal have already moved swiftly in the transfer market to secure the services of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno but Unai Emery’s work at the Emirates Stadium is not complete.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss continues to eye defensive reinforcements for the side he inherited from Arsene Wenger and the Gunners are widely reported to be set to bring Sokratis Papastahopoulos in from Borussia Dortmund.
Speculation surrounding the 29-year-old Greece international has been present for some time and it appears fans could finally see a conclusion to the saga, as Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth claims a deal will be announced tomorrow.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Podcast, he said:
“That one [Papastathopoulos] is likely to happen on 1 July. Dortmund want to announce it at the start of the new tax quarter in Germany.”
Arsenal are also expected to complete the signing of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, although a deal for the Uruguay midfielder is unlikely to be completed until after the World Cup in Russia.
