Arsenal are undergoing a major restructure this summer and a major departure was announced last week by England international Jack Wilshere, who will not be renewing his contract.

The exit for the academy graduate leaves room in midfield for further additions, with Arsenal reported to be chasing Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira and Sevilla’s Ever Banega, but the availability of the number 10 jersey has caught the eye.

The Daily Mail states Arsenal star Mesut Ozil will make a request to change his number at the Emirates Stadium to number 10 following Wilshere’s departure for advertising purposes, as he already wears number 10 for Germany.

Ozil wore number 10 during his time with Real Madrid but that number was unavailable when he joined Arsenal in 2013 and could now push for the jersey after signing a committing his future to the Gunners earlier this season by signing a new long-term deal.

Number changes have already occurred at Arsenal this summer, with Petr Cech, Hector Bellerin, Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles all switching numbers.
