3 young stoppers Arsenal should eye to succeed Petr Cech

|

Mile Svilar

18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Mile Svilar moved to Benfica from Anderlecht last summer and has since become the youngest-ever player to feature in the Champions League, breaking Iker Casillas’ record, and has featured three times in the league.

Still in his teens, and yet to fully establish himself as a first-choice, Svilar is the sort of signing that would lead to a transition at Arsenal rather than an immediate replacement- with Petr Cech or indeed David Ospina remaining first-choice, seeing Svilar utilised in the cup competitions.

That would give Svilar first-team football in order to develop but would relieve the immediate pressure upon the Belgian U19 international, although the fact he only moved to Portugal last year could be an issue.
