Champions League incentive
With a top-four finish in the Premier League now realistically out of reach, Arsenal’s only chance of playing Champions League football next season is via victory in the Europa League- and that provides an additional incentive to the Gunners.
Other favourites to win this year’s competition, including Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, are both likely to seal a spot in Europe’s elite competition through their domestic form and Arsenal therefore have an advantage, as the importance of the European clashes has risen significantly.
