Arsenal could be set for major changes this summer and there’s a lot of speculation regarding the future of boss Arsene Wenger, who may leave despite only signing a new two-year deal last summer.
The Gunners are poised to miss out on a top-four Premier League finish once again and speculation suggests that the north London side are considering potential replacements for their long-serving French manager.
One of those widely linked with a move to Arsenal is former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, who could reunite with club-record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and a Premier League star has backed the German to excel in English football.
Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan played one season under Tuchel in Dortmund, before moving to the Premier League, and he’s stated that the 44-year-old German could be a real force in England.
Quoted by Football.London, the World Cup hopeful said:
“I’m a big fan of his. I believe he’s a world class coach and that he can coach every big club in the world, for me that’s not in doubt. I’m glad (he could go to England), I really enjoyed my one year playing for him (at Dortmund) and I learnt a lot in that time.”
“I wish him all the best and have spoken to him a little since (leaving Dortmund). I’m sure in the not too distant future he’ll be managing a big club.”
Reports over the weekend widely linked Tuchel with a position at the Emirates Stadium, although there have since been suggestions that he will not be moving to the Emirates Stadium.
