Arsenal are set for a major rebuild this summer and the Gunners’ new Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat is reportedly eyeing a number of changes this summer, with one area he’s looking to improve being the centre of midfield.

The north London side could be set for major changes in this area, as Jack Wilshere’s contract is rapidly approaching it’s conclusion and the club are also concerned that Aaron Ramsey could leave for nothing in 2019.

As such, the need for Arsenal to improve their options in the middle of the pitch is growing- and Spanish outlet Don Balon has stated that the Gunners are ready to launch a remarkable swoop of £53m to bring Luka Modric to the club.

Speculation has claimed that the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is keen on a return to north London and will seek an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with Arsenal leading Liverpool in the chase for the Croatian international.

The three-time Champions League winner would certainly provide an upgrade to Arsenal’s midfield but the sum required for his services could prove to be a sticking point.
