Arsenal are entering a crucial period in their future and a massive overhaul could take place this summer, which sees a number of players within the squad have their contract situation shrouded in uncertainty.
The Gunners have Per Mertesacker, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere have their contracts expire this summer, with the trio likely to leave, and there is also concerns regarding the future of Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates Stadium.
Ramsey sees his contract expire in 2019 and Arsenal are concerned that he could seek an exit next year. However, Arsene Wenger has spoken with optimism about the chances of the Welsh international signing a contract renewal.
Speaking ahead of last night’s clash with AC Milan, Wenger said:
“We want the players to stay at this club. That’s why I always speak about values. This club has been created by people who work in the fabric. One of the few clubs in the world.”
“We want our players to be proud of the values that have been created by people. They are based on hard work, humility, desire to be together. Those are the values we want the players to take charge of, stay together and show these values. That’s what we want, that’s what I want. That’s my dream.”
