Arsenal face a major recruitment drive this summer and new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has already proved his worth in the January transfer window, playing a key part in the captures of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The former Borussia Dortmund man has his work cut out for him this summer but is said to be eyeing a wealth of business, with reports now stating he’s looking to return to German to capture a £30m-rated defender.

The Daily Mail state Arsenal have opened talks with Freiburg ace Caglar Soyuncu as the north London side seek to win the race for the highly-rated 21-year-old Turkish international.

Soyuncu has caught the attention of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma during the course of the past year and Mislintat is desperate to bring the talented youngster to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal need recruits in the heart of defence due to the imminent retirement of captain Per Mertesacker, whilst there continues to be questions regarding Shkodran Mustafi’s suitability to the side.
