Arsenal face a huge summer ahead of them and there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Gunners’ squad, particularly with a number of contracts within the team due to expire in the coming months.
Veterans Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla both see their deals come to a close this summer, and are likely to leave, but the biggest loss could come in the form of England international Jack Wilshere, who is reluctant to pen a new deal.
The academy graduate has entered the final few months of his contract without progressing in talks regarding an extension, despite Arsenal wanting him to sign a new deal, and the likelihood of an exit for Wilshere this summer is increasing.
Arsene Wenger has spoken about his desire to keep Wilshere at the Emirates Stadium but has issued an update ahead of this evening’s clash with AC Milan, as he told reporters:
“I don’t know [if he will stay], but Jack will be free at the end of the season. We make a proposal to him, I want him to stay and my desire is to see him linked to the club for the future. I hope he will do it.”
Interest in Wilshere is rising significantly, with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Everton being linked with a swoop in recent weeks.
