Arsenal are still keeping close tabs on Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to Calciomercato, but they face a new threat from Serie A leaders Napoli.

The Italian international has been linked regularly with the Gunners over the past year, and with the London club likely to be seeking a new centre back in the summer, it seems the Juve player’s name will likely keep cropping up.

Rugani was next in line to replace Leonardo Bonucci in Juve’s defence, after the latter departed for AC Milan in the summer, but he has failed to take his chance so far.

The 23 year old has played 15 games this season, but he lost his first team place back in November when Juventus lost Sampdoria; the Bianconeri’s last defeat in any competition.

Juve are reportedly reluctant to let Rugani go, but there does seem to be a doubt in manager Max Allegri’s mind that he can cut it at the top level. Whether that will allow Arsenal to pounce at the end of the season, we will have to wait and see.
