Manchester United and Manchester City could offer €40m (£35m) for Napoli midfield anchor man Jorginho, according to the Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via Football-Italia.net).
Arsenal have been tracking the Italian international for a number of years, and in July, the player’s agent Joao Santos was forced to deny that the Gunners had made an approach for the midfielder.
However, it looks like the two Manchester clubs are now the firm favourites to sign Jorginho, if the player opts against signing a new contract with the Partenopei.
Napoli will reportedly meet with the agents of the 26 year old before the Serie A leaders’ match against Lazio on Saturday. The midfielder has two and a half years remaining on his current deal.
Jorginho has been an integral part of Napoli’s rise to the top of the table. Dictating play from a deep lying midfield position, the Italian has scored four goals and contributed three assists in 25 matches so far this campaign.
