Turkish club president travels to hold talks over signing Arsenal ace

|

Beskitas president Fikret Orman has been in England to hold a meeting over signing Danny Welbeck from Arsenal, according to Posta.

The Turkish club are seeking a replacement for Cenk Tosun, who they sold for £27m to Everton last week, and they have decided on two possible candidates: Welbeck and Leicester City’s Islam Slimani.

Despite having money to spend in the January transfer window after the sale of Tosun, it seems Besiktas are only willing to sign a player on loan, in view to purchasing on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Posta report that as Welbeck has been struggling for game time with the Gunners, a loan move could be a possibility. The 27 year old had not started a league game for three months before being included in the starting eleven against Bournemouth yesterday.

With Alexis Sanchez’s possible departure, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would likely be unwilling to let another forward leave the club, unless a replacement can be found before the end of January.
