Arsenal could face Liverpool in the battle to sign Bordeaux winger Malcom, according to the French club’s manager.
The Reds have not been mentioned as a potential challenger for the Brazilian so far, with Tottenham believed to be the Gunners’ closest rival for the 20 year old, but Bordeaux boss Jocelyn Gourvennec voluntary offered up the club’s name during a recent interview. He was quoted by the Metro as saying:
“If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go. I’m a coach, I’d like to be able to count on Malcom, Malcom has to help us.”
Malcom is said to be on Arsenal’s list of targets to replace Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates with a £45m offer reportedly being lined up. However Bordeaux’s president Stephane Martin says the club have not held talks with the Gunners about a possible transfer.
The Brazilian Under 23 international has been in excellent form in Ligue One this campaign. In 19 league appearances, the winger has scored seven goals and provided five assists.
The midfielder is predominantly left footed but generally plays on the right hand side, using his pace to either cut inside or to deliver crosses into the box.
