The appointment of new Sevilla manager Vincenzo Montella may have “completely changed” Steven N’Zonzi’s situation at the Spanish club, according to the Estadio Deportivo.

La Liga teams return from their brief winter break with fixtures in the Copa Del Rey this week, and during preparations for the team’s cup game against Cadiz tomorrow, the French international has played in a training game alongside other presumed starters for the match.

Montella declared his intention to persuade N’Zonzi into staying during his first press conference after being unveiled as Sevilla manager, with the Italian seeing the midfielder as a key player.

A report in the Daily Mail last week suggested that Everton had leapfrogged Arsenal in the battle to sign the 29 year old for £25m, with the player determined to leave Sevilla after a fallout with the club’s previous coach Eduardo Berizzo.

Montella’s arrival was believed to have not changed N’Zonzi’s mind on the matter, but it looks as though the Italian will make a concerted effort to win over the Frenchman.
