Mainz will turn down any bids for centre back Abdou Diallo in the January transfer window, according to RMC Sport.

Arsenal are said to be interested in the defender but the Frenchman only arrived at the German club from Monaco in the summer for €6million, and it is believed that he won’t be allowed to leave after six months.

Diallo is captain of France’s Under 21 side, and has been a key player for Mainz this season, with 17 games already under his belt for his new club. The German side currently sit 15th in the Bundesliga, conceding 28 times so far this campaign.

RMC report that the Gunners have just started scouting the defender and the club’s head scout Sven Mislintat rates the 21 year old very highly. They say that even though a January bid would be knocked back for Mainz, a summer approach could be considered by the German side if Arsenal make a “substantial offer.”
