Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir has rejected talk that he could soon leave the French club. The 24 year old has been linked with Arsenal, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and a whole host of other clubs.
Speaking in an interview with Telefoot, Fekir said he was flattered by the interest being shown in him, but he remains firmly committed to Lyon:
“It [the interest from Barcelona] touches me but there is nothing concrete: I am in Lyon, I work in Lyon and I feel good in Lyon .”
Asked about what would be his ideal club, Fekir said:
“It’s not a club, it’s a championship, but in Spain, there are different clubs: Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid are big clubs. There is also England, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal are also great clubs, but I do not have a club in particular.”
The French international has had a stunning season in Ligue One, scoring 12 goals in 15 games. His incredible start to the campaign prompted talk of a move away from France, with the Daily Star even stating the Gunners had all but secured a move for the prolific midfielder.
However, Fekir looks likely to stay until at least the end of the season. Not only is he an integral player in Lyon’s side, he is also the captain, and club president Jean-Michel Aulas has stated that any discussion about a transfer will have to take place in the summer.
