European Heavyweights consider surprise swoop for Arsenal ace

|

Bayern Munich may look to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as a backup option to Robert Lewandowski, according to Sport Bild.

The German publication report that the Frenchman and young Ajax forward Kasper Dolberg are two names that the Bavarian side will consider as potential recruits in the January transfer window.

Giroud has reiterated in recent days that he is happy to stay with the Gunners but he also stated last month that he was “very close” to leaving the London club in the summer for Everton.

The difference between the Toffees and the Bundesliga side however is that he would be moving to Germany to play second fiddle to Lewandowski rather than as the undisputed number one striker. Swapping the reserve striker role at one club for another doesn’t seem like a wise move, especially with the player now 31.

Giroud has made 17 appearances for Arsenal this season, with 11 coming as a substitute.
