Arsenal front man set to stay after main suitor withdraws from race

|

Everton have opted against rekindling their interest in Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, reports Daily Star journalist James Benson.

The French international has revealed recently that he was close to quitting the Emirates in the summer but opted to stay and fight for his place instead. The Merseyside club were one of the favourites to make a move for the 31 year old but it seems they are not yet decided on who they will target.

The Toffees have had a desperate start to the Premier League season, and find themselves 16th in the table with just seven points from their first seven league games.

They have so far struggled to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who left for Manchester United, and they’ve scored just four times in the league so far this season. Still, it seems under pressure manager Ronald Koeman is keen to see how his strikers perform between now and January. The Dutchman will then reassess his options when the transfer window reopens.
