Cagliari’s continued participation in the Coppa Italia could prompt them to make a move for Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

Without the cup competition, the Serie A side would have had only 38 games to play this season in the league, reducing their need for another full back. However, Cagliari beat Palermo 4-2 on penalties in the Coppa Italia third round on Saturday night, and it could lead to a bid from the Italian club for Jenkinson.

The Corriere Dello Sport¬†also say that Birmingham City could be Cagliari’s biggest rivals for the 25 year old but no club so far is believed to have made a bid for the former England international this summer.

The full back reportedly turned down a move to Crystal Palace in January due to personal terms not being agreed, and he would no doubt have to take a sizeable pay cut if he were to make the switch to Italy or the Championship.
