Arsenal’s bid for key summer signing could be hijacked by rival

|

Manchester United are considering hijacking Arsenal’s move for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to Daily Record journalist Duncan Castles.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has been seeking to strengthen his wide options this summer but attempts for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, Chelsea’s Willian and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic have all failed.

A bid for the the 21 year old French international is seen as good future planning by United, the Daily Record reports, but it seems as though no formal bid has been made as yet.

Arsenal have been tracking Lemar all summer but Monaco’s asking price is said to be too steep for the Gunners currently, and they will need to offload a number of fringe players to finance the move.

The Ligue One champions have lost a number of key stars and it is likely that they will be just as reluctant to do business with United as with Arsenal. A €60m price tag has been suggested for the Frenchman, and it looks to be a figure that Monaco are putting out there to ward off any potential suitors.
