Agent refutes claim that Confederations Cup star will be sold to Arsenal

|

The agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler has dampened speculation that the German international will be leaving the French club this month.

The 23 year old only joined from Wolfsburg in January for £36m but the Times have reported that Neymar’s arrival at the Parc des Princes could see the attacking midfielder leave for just £32m. They say Arsenal were considering an approach for the German star but speaking to German newspaper Bild (translated by the Metro), Draxler’s representative Roger Witterman dismissed the claims:

“Draxler will stay and will not be sold this summer. Paris is building a group with the best players in the world at every post, and Julian is one of them and he wants to continue to be part of it.”

Draxler captained Germany to their Confederations Cup success in June, and had a productive end to last season with PSG, playing 25 games in total for the Ligue One side, scoring ten goals and providing three assists.

He played exclusively on the left wing under manager Unai Emery, but he has seen his place in the side taken by Neymar for PSG’s second league match of the campaign against Guingamp last weekend. Draxler is still yet to make an appearance this season after returning late to pre-season due to his international commitments.
