Real Betis are pursuing a transfer deadline day deal for Arsenal winger Joel Campbell, according to AS.
The Spanish publication report the La Liga club have been pursuing the Costa Rican international all summer, but the 25 year old picked up a knee injury playing for his country at Gold Cup back in July causing them to delay their pursuit.
The Guardian revealed last week that Campbell wants to leave the club permanently rather than on another loan deal, but AS believe that Betis want the player only on loan. They report however that the player may be willing to reconsider his stance on the matter.
The winger played for Betis on one of his loan spells back in the 2012/13 season, where he made 33 appearances, scoring two goals and contributing three assists.
One major stumbling block to the deal going ahead though is that Campbell’s contract expires in the summer and it will be up to the Gunners to decide whether they could accept the player leaving for nothing at the end of the loan spell.
