Arsenal could still yet make a bid for Nice attacking midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to Evening Standard journalist James Olley.

Seri’s move to Barcelona has recently collapsed and speaking to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo this week, the 26 year old revealed that if a switch to Barca could not be revived, he would like to join another big European club. Among the clubs he named was Arsenal; giving the Gunners extra encouragement in their pursuit of the Ivorian international.

The midfielder’s situation is being monitored by the Gunners, the Standard reports, and after the club sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool, the money from the transfer could easily be used to meet Seri’s reported asking price of €40m (£36.8m).

The playmaker made 39 appearances in all competitions for Nice last season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists. He has also started this campaign in decent form, playing six games so far and making three assists.
