West Ham United, Zenit St Petersburg and Real Betis are all interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere before the close of the transfer window, according to Daily Star journalist Jack Staplehurst.

With the 25 year old having less than 12 months left on his contract, a permanent transfer seems to be the more likely outcome but the newspaper believe that a loan move is also possible.

The Hammers are said to be the front runners as they are Wilshere’s preferred destination but Slaven Bilic’s side are pursuing a number of alternatives in the England international’s position.

Although a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho looks to be dead, a loan bid for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes is being pursued, and if they land the Portuguese international, Wilshere would have to consider other options.

The Estadio Deportivo reported on Tuesday that Betis had been offered Wilshere but it is believed the Spanish club are looking for a midfielder with a different profile, and may only consider the Gunners star as a fallback option.
