Arsenal are unwilling to meet Leicester City’s £50million valuation for Riyad Mahrez, who now faces an uncertain future this summer.

The 26-year-old has been a subject of interest for the Gunners in the past two transfer windows and is believed to be one of Arsene Wenger’s top targets this summer.

However, it’s thought that Wenger will not pay any more than £35million for the Algerian winger who is believed to be keen on a move to Arsenal.

Earlier this year, Mahrez handed in a transfer request following a disappointing season with Leicester. It’s believed, according to The Sun, that the Algeria international has an agreement with the club that will allow him to leave this summer should a suitable offer come in.

Mahrez is reportedly a target of Barcelona, but the La Liga club have yet to make an offer.

Mahrez is now expected to start pre-season with Leicester.

Is Mahrez worth £50million? If so, should Arsenal spend this amount of money on the Algerian this summer? In my opinion, I don’t think he is worth that amount of money. Granted, he did have a great season when Leicester won the Premier League title, but last term he disappointed. Whether this was because his heart wasn’t in it, I don’t know, but to value him at £50million is outrageous.

Arsenal did splash out £52million on Alexandre Lacazette recently, and I can’t for the life of me see Wenger spending near the same amount on Mahrez. The Frenchman is right not to meet Leicester’s valuation, and I would rather see us spend such a fee on someone a bit more consistent this summer.
