Galatasaray are expected to re-sign Arda Turan on a season long loan from Barcelona, according to Hurriyet.

Arsenal had been heavily linked with the Turkish international in recent months but the Spanish media have reported that the Gunners’ interest had gone cold in recent weeks.

Hurriyet reports that Galatasaray will not be given a purchase option to keep the 30 year old at the end of next season. The club are believed to be prepared to pay Arda’s €4.5m a year salary (£77,000 a week) for the duration of the loan spell, and he will be given the captain’s armband.

The attacking midfielder made his senior debut for Galatasaray against Bursaspor back in 2005 and he went on to make 190 appearances for the Turkish side before he was signed by Atletico Madrid in 2011 for £11m.

After four successful seasons in the Spanish capital, he was signed by Barca for close to £29m two years ago but he is not part of new manager Ernesto Valverde’s first team plans for the upcoming season.
