French side adamant Arsenal target is going nowhere despite claim of deal

|

Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev says the Ligue One club will not sell either Arsenal target Thomas Lemar or Fabinho this summer.

The Sun claim that the Gunners are closing in on a £45m deal for Lemar, but Vasilyev is adamant that Monaco are not willing to sell anymore players this summer. He was quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“Fabinho and Lemar are essential players, they will stay with us. We have kept all of the key players we intended to keep.”

Manchester City have already signed Bernard Silva and Benjamin Mendy from Monaco this summer, while Chelsea have moved for holding midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Lemar has been the subject of two bids from Arsenal, but it looks like Monaco will be looking to play hardball, as they did with Manchester City over Mendy. The left back signed for Ligue One side from Marseille for £11m a year ago, but was sold to City for £52m this summer.

Lemar meanwhile, made a switch from Caen for £3.4m two years ago, and it is likely Monaco will be looking for a sizeable markup if they are going to sell the winger.
