Willem II are on the verge of signing Arsenal midfielder Daniel Crowley from Arsenal, according to the Brabants Dagblad.

The Dutch newspaper reports the Eredivisie club have beaten off the likes of Fulham and Hannover to the 19 year old’s signature. Dubbed the “next Jack Wilshere” by some, the central midfield player had just one year left on his contract at the Emirates, but the player decided that it was best for his development to move away from the Gunners.

Crowley had spent the second half of last season on loan in the Netherlands at the Go Ahead Eagles. He impressed during his spell in the Eredivisie with two goals from 16 appearances despite the Eagles’ subsequent relegation.

The England Under 19 international had previously spent time on loan at Barnsley and Oxford United over the past two years but the creative midfield talent has opted to switch countries in order to make a name for himself.
