Nice boss Lucien Favre has reaffirmed the club’s stance regarding the availability of midfielder Jean-Michael Seri.

RMC (via Mundo Deportivo) reported that Roma were close to sealing a €35million transfer for the Ivorian but speaking to reporters at a press conference yesterday (quotes translated by Football-Italia.net), the Swiss manager refuted any suggestions that the 25 year old was on on the verge of leaving the French club for Italy:

“Seri? He’ll be with us at our preseason retreat on June 26. He’s a key player for the team.”

Arsenal have also been heavily linked with the midfield playmaker but it seems any club will have to meet the player’s release clause if they want to sign him this summer.

Speaking last month, Nice’s president Jean-Pierre Rivere told RMC that he would only allow Seri to go if a club makes an approach that triggers the €40m buyout clause in his contract.

Seri had an excellent season for Nice last campaign, making 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.
