Arsenal have moved a step closer to landing Riechedly Bazoer after Ajax boss Peter Bosz confirmed the midfielder is in the ‘final phase’ of a January transfer.

The Gunners, along with AC Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, have been heavily linked with a swoop for the 20-year-old.

The Dutch starlet made the breakthrough at Ajax two years ago and shone for the Eredivisie side under Frank de Boer. However, his opportunities have been limited this season and a January move away looks imminent.

Earlier in the month, Bosz did hint that Bazoer would be leaving the club and, after another chat with the midfielder, the Ajax boss has now confirmed the Dutchman will be departing in January:

‘Riechedly and I had a good conversation on Saturday afternoon.

‘He reported that his transfer is in the final phase – and I also understand this from Marc [Overmars, director of football].

‘He has a view to a new club, which is why we gave him freedom form training to work with players who are focused on our next opponent.

‘We shook hands and parted in a good way.’

Bazoer does supposedly have a number of top clubs interested in his services, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal go ahead and make a move when the winter window opens.
